Can I walk around the vineyards at Pfeiffer Wines?
Many people assume they are free to wander through vineyards, unless there are specific signs or locked gates indicating they shouldn’t.
However Rutherglen (and the King Valley, Beechworth, Alpine Valleys, Glenrowan, the Goulburn Valley and more recently, the Yarra Valley), are all phylloxera infestation zones. Phylloxera lives on the roots of grapevines and spreads from vine to vine by crawling through cracks in the soil and between vineyards and regions via soil residues and plant material.
Soil on machinery is a major risk, however, soil on footwear can also spread phylloxera, which is why some wineries require visitors to have their shoes chemically disinfected before and after entering a vineyard, or requests visitors to wear protection over their shoes whilst they are in the vineyard.
If you are a walking group or you are interested in accessing our Sunday Creek or Carlyle vineyards please contact us prior to your visit, so we can discuss our phylloxera biosecurity measures with you.
If Pfeiffer Picnic Hampers are for two people, how do I book for three people…or five people?

Angels receive the benefits of Angel pricing and exclusive wines, as well as invitations to exclusive events.
