Jen Pfeiffer’s enthusiasm and diligence are on full show when you visit the winery. Keep up or you’re left in her wake. While their aged material is not as extensive as Chambers, Morris or Campbells (they’ve only had skin in the game since the 1980s so their oldest wines are only 40+ years), you can always guarantee freshness.
Jen is fastidious in the winery, she’s one of our hardest working winemakers. The love for her craft, which she learned from her fortified fanatic father, Chris, shines through in her current releases.
This Grand Topaque is one of Australia’s best.
Mahogany tones with an olive green rim. A cornucopia of smells—dark orange chocolate, green olives, burnt toffee and figs. The core is viscous, a barrel of flavours rolls across, starting with sweet accents then gaining savoury tones and finishing with bitter notes.
It’s a lovely ride and very harmonious. The spirit is high class and woven beautifully into the wine. It’s in a delicious drinking window now, combining age and wisdom with freshness and joy. (Screwcap)
